Code of Conduct

2026 Season · Player Agreement

"Be a POET with the Ball and a BULLDOG without it."

Being a Dunbar Bulldog means something. It means competing hard, caring about your teammates, and representing this program with pride — in training, in games, and in everything you do off the field. This code of conduct isn't a list of rules for rules' sake. It's a declaration of who we are.

Every player who puts on this jersey agrees to uphold these standards. When you sign below, you're making a commitment — to your coaches, your teammates, and yourself.

01

Commitment & Effort

Show up — physically and mentally
Attend every practice, training session, and game unless you have a legitimate conflict communicated in advance. Being on time means being early. Arriving late to training or a game without communication is disrespectful to the group.
Give everything you have, every session
Half-effort in training becomes half-effort in games. We train as close to the real game as possible. The standards don't drop because it's a Wednesday afternoon.
Compete for your place
No position is guaranteed. Work every day as if someone is trying to take your spot — because they are. A healthy competitive environment makes everyone better.
Take care of your body
Sleep, nutrition, and recovery are part of your job. Report injuries immediately and honestly. Playing through undisclosed injury puts you and your teammates at risk.
02

Respect & Team Culture

Respect your teammates
Encourage each other. No tearing down, mocking, or undermining — in person or online. The trust inside this team is built in the locker room and on the training field. Protect it.
Respect your coaches
Listen actively. Disagreements happen — address them directly and privately, not in front of the group or on social media. Coaching decisions are made for the good of the team. If you have a concern, come talk.
Respect opponents and officials
Compete hard. Play physical. Win and lose with class. Arguing with referees, trash talking opponents, or celebrating in a disrespectful way reflects on the program and will result in consequences.
Be a good teammate off the ball
Cheer for the player who got the minutes you wanted. Root for the team, not for your own statistics. Eleven players with one brain is what we're building.
03

Accountability

Own your mistakes
Blaming teammates, the referee, or the conditions is easy. Growth comes from honesty. The best players in the world still work every day on their weaknesses. Be one of those players.
Take care of equipment and facilities
Treat jerseys, training gear, and the field with respect. Equipment issued to you is your responsibility. Report damage immediately.
Academic eligibility is non-negotiable
You are a student first. Stay current on your schoolwork. If you're struggling academically, tell a coach — we will help you find support. Players who lose academic eligibility cannot play, and there are no exceptions.
Social media and off-field conduct
You represent PLD Soccer everywhere. Posts that are disrespectful, embarrassing to the program, or harmful to others reflect on the entire team. When in doubt, don't post it.
04

Playing Identity

Trust the system
We play a specific style — possession-based, purposeful, high-press. It takes time to build. Trust the process even when it's hard. Don't abandon the principles when the game gets difficult.
Be a poet and a bulldog
Technical quality and competitive hunger are not opposites. We demand both. Play with composure and skill on the ball. The moment we lose it, flip the switch — press, recover, defend together.
Invest in individual development
Sessions give you the collective structure. Your individual improvement is on you. Work on your 1v1 technique, your movement without the ball, your first touch. The best teammates make themselves harder to stop.
05

Training Standards

Be early. Be ready.
Arriving early is not optional — it's a habit of serious players. Be on the field, in gear, and mentally ready to go before practice starts. Showing up on time is showing up late.
Water breaks are a team activity
During training, players do not leave the session to get water on their own. We train together and we recover together. Designated water breaks will be built into every session — use them.
Communicate absences in advance
If you need to miss a practice, let a coach know ahead of time — no exceptions. Understand that missing multiple sessions puts you behind in learning our system and our style. Playing time reflects preparation, and preparation happens at practice.
Represent the program off the ball too
If you bring a bag or backpack to practice, line it up neatly with the rest of the team's gear. How we handle the small things reflects who we are. Take pride in how we look, even on the sideline.
Consequences
Failure to meet standards may result in reduced playing time, suspension from games, or removal from the program depending on the severity and pattern of behavior.
Serious violations — including disrespect toward coaches, teammates, or officials; conduct that brings the program into disrepute; or violation of school policy — will be addressed immediately and may result in removal from the team.
We will always talk to a player directly before any action is taken. The door is open. Come to us first.
